Artesa "Tesoro" Tempranillo Alexander Valley 2007

Tempranillo is the backbone of wines made in the well-known Spanish regions Rioja and Ribera del Duero, but is also grown as far afield as Mexico and Australia. 

As a flavor profile, red fruits like strawberries and cherries can predominate - but with a rustic edge. Many wines made from Tempranillo will spend a few years in barrel and bottle before being released. The combination of the tart fruit and tannins make this wine very food friendly.

A cornucopia of intense raspberry, blueberry and red currant vies with aromas of cinnamon, truffle, leather and cocoa. Bright juicy flavors jump up and entertain the palate in a lively entry. Fine tannins, bright acidity, and a sweet oak nuance add depth and complexity. スペインのあの有名なリオハやリベラ・デル・ドゥエロ地方のワインでは、ワインの骨格をなすテンプラニーニョ。メキシコやオーストラリアなどでも広く栽培されている。 

風味に関して言えば、イチゴやチェリーのような赤色系フルーツが大勢を占めるが、荒削りで粗野な感じもあわせ持つ。テンプラニーニョを使ったワインは、その多くが樽や瓶の中で何年か熟成した後リリースされる。すっぱいフルーツの風味とタンニンとの組み合わせは、食事といっしょにいただくのにぴったり。

ラズベリーやブルーベリー、赤スグリの凝縮された香りが、シナモンやトラッフル、皮革、ココアの香りと競うようにふんだんに漂う。口に含むとジューシーで鮮やかな風味が飛び跳ね、生き生きした味わいが広がる。きめの細かいタンニンと鮮やかな酸味、甘いオーク樽の微妙な香りのおかげで、ワインは奥深い複雑なものとなっている。アレクサンダー・バレーで栽培されるテンプラニーニョとグラシアーノの可能性をみごとに表す唯一無二の素晴らしい赤ワインと言える。
