Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

The highly sought-after Caymus Special Selection isn't called "special" for nothing. Introduced more than 30 years ago, the truly legendary Special Selection is a vivid expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley that Cab lovers simply can't get enough of. Starting with the foundation of their Rutherford estate vineyard, Caymus has instituted a valley wide approach - using many sub-appellations of Napa Valley from one end to the other to "build" their top wine.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection is the first example of this cuvee to include Merlot (about 14%) in the blend. The Merlot component has given the wine a cocoa/chocolate nuance to its black currant, wild berry, licorice-infused fruit. A beautifully crafted wine, rich, intense and powerful, yet supple, graceful and polished. Full-bodied, the tannins are velvety soft making the wine ideal for drinking now and over the next 15 years.

ケイマス・スペシャルセレクション　カベルネ・ソービニヨン 2009

人気のケイマス・スペシャルセレクションに「スペシャル」が付いているのでは「だて」ではない。初登場は30年以上前。ナパ・バレー（Napa Valley）のカベルネ・ソービニヨンを見事に表現するワインとしてはすでに伝説の域に達している。「いくら飲んでも飲み足らない」とカバルネを愛して止まない人たちは言う。最高のワインを作るために、ナパ・バレー（Napa Valley）のラザフォード地区にある自社畑を中心にナパ・バレーの端から端まで数多くの地域からブドウを選りすぐって使用。

ヴィンテージ2009年ものはメルロー（約14％）をブレンドしたキューベとしては初の作品。カバルネ特有の黒スグリや野生のベリー、リコリスの香りに、メルローがココアやチョコレートの香りをそれとなく添えている。豊潤で弾けるように力強いにもかかわらず、しなやかさと優雅さを持ち合わせた洗練された逸品。フルボディーでタンニンはベルベットのようにソフト。今から15年間は飲み頃がずっと続くという理想的なワイン。
