La Sirena Syrah Santa Ynez Valley 2006

Heidi Peterson Barrett, owner and winemaker of La Sirena (the Mermaid) built her reputation for making some of the world's best wines during a 30-year career. Since 1988 she has developed an impressive client list of ultra-premium wineries. In addition to her very own wines from La Sirena, she is currently the winemaker for Amuse Bouche, Paradigm, Lamborn, Kenzo Estate, Revana, Au Sommet, Vin Perdu, and Fantesca. Past winemaking clients include Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle, and Grace Family, as well as numerous others.

This Syrah is made from fruit grown in the Santa Ynez valley along the central coast of California, a region much cooler in climate than Napa Valley. This produces a beautiful medium-bodied Syrah with very enticing lifted aromas of strawberry rhubarb pie and ripe, plum-like fruit. The wine has a soft, supple, yet vibrant mouthfeel; good body, but quite smooth. It is lush, yet juicy, chock full of spicy, red fruit character, cranberry and a touch of smokiness.

ラ・シレナ　シラー　サンタ・イエネツ・バレー　2006

ハイジ・ピーターソン・バレット。ラ・シレナ（人魚の意）のオーナーであり醸造家。30年にわたりワイン造りに献身し、世界最高と言われるワインをいくつも手がけたことで知られる。1988年以来の彼女の顧客リストは驚き。数々の超級ワイナリーが名をそろえる。ラ・シレナから自身のワインをリリースするとともに、現在、アミューズ・ブッシュやパラダイム、ランボーン、ケンゾウ・エステート、レヴァナ、オー・ソメ、ヴィン・パデュ、ファンテスカの醸造家でもある。過去に彼女が携わった顧客もスクリーミング・イーグルやダラ・ヴァレ、グレース・ファミリーなどをはじめ数多い。

このシラーにはナパバレーよりもずっと涼しい、カリフォルニア中央沿岸地域にあるサンタ・イエネツ・バレーで育ったブドウを使用。ミディアム・ボディー。ストロベリー・ルバーブ・パイや熟したプラムのようなフルーツが香る素晴らしいシラー。口当たりは、柔らかくしなやかでありながら活気もある。適度な重さで非常に滑らか。豊潤でジューシー。スパイスや赤系フルーツ、クランベリーの風味がギュッと詰まっている。スモーキーさも微かに漂う。
