Le Cheval Fou Hermitage Blanc 2007
This wine is produced from 100% Marsanne grapes harvested on September 19, 2007. We are astounded at the quality of this wine and expect the critics' highest approval. The banana taffy qualities (tarte aux bananes per our French counterparts) are accentuated by striking notes of nectarine, marmalade and honeysuckle, with underlying tones of crushed rocks, quince fruit and subtle citrus flavors. Only 200 cases of this wine were produced.
Light yellow-gold. Cling peach and poached pear aromas are complemented by smoked meat, spun sugar and floral honey. An ample wine, with deep, slightly sweet orange and orchard fruit flavors and a bite of dusty minerals adding focus. Turns warmer on the finish, leaving behind sweet citrus notes. This strikes me as a bit monolithic right now. (Shaw-Ross International Importers, Miramar, FL) - Jan/Feb 2009
