Morgan Chardonnay Santa Lucia Highlands 2009

In 1982, Dan Morgan Lee and his wife, Donna, started Morgan Winery. Over the years they have grown into one of the most respected and loved wineries in Monterey County. With the purchase in 1996 of the Double L Ranch in the Santa Lucia Highlands they now own some of the best organic vineyard acreage in the area.

More than half the fruit for this Chardonnay comes from the certified organic Double L Vineyard, with the remainder coming from McIntyre and Rosella\'s vineyards, two other well known Santa Lucia Highlands sites. Fermented in 25% new oak and a combination of one- and two-year-old and neutral barrels. Partial malolatic fermentation gives the wine a creamy mid-palate while still maintaining acidity.

Aromas of crme brulee, walnuts and lime zest. On the palate, the rich flavors are complemented by butterscotch, tangy citrus, and grapefruit with bright acidity. Incredibly food friendly, the 2009 Highlands Chardonnay is a perfect match with cream-sauced pastas, roast chicken and pork, and seafood.
