Vermeil JLV Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2005

Dick Vermeil, former NFL Super Bowl winning coach and winemaker Paul Smith have turned a long time friendship into a successful wine venture in Calistoga, where Vermeil was raised.

Vermeil's great-grandfather, Jean Louis Vermeil, grew pre-Prohibition wine grapes on land now owned by the Frediani family in Calistoga. His father, also named Jean Louis Vermeil, made wine. This wine is dedicated to them.

The foundation for the majority of Vermeil's best wines is the Frediani family's dry-farmed vineyards in the esteemed Rosedale-Pickett Road area of the northeastern Napa Valley. This unique area near the base of the Palisades features a broad variety of soil types. The vineyards, warm Calistoga days, cool foggy nights and third generation Frediani Family wine growing experience combine to produce fruit rich in color and flavor density.

Aromas of creme de cassis, plum, blackberry, wood smoke, and licorice. The nose follows through to the palate with touches of herbs. Full-bodied and opulent. 

バーミール　JLV　カベルネ・ソービニオン　ナパ・バレー　2005

ディック・バーミール氏（元アメリカン・ナショナル・フットボール・リーグのスーパーボール優勝チーム監督）と醸造家であるポール・スミス氏の長年の友人関係がナパバレーのカリストガでのワイン造りでの成功につながった。それがバーミール。

バーミール氏の曽祖父、ジーン・ルイス・バーミール氏は禁酒法時代以前に、現在はフレディアーニ家が所有しているカリストガの土地でワイン用ブドウを栽培していた。また、バーミール氏の父親（名前は曽祖父と同じジーン・ルイス・バーミール）もワインを造っていた。このカベルネはそんな二人にささげるために造られた。

バーミールの高級ワインのほとんどは、ナパバレーの北東部のローズデール-ピケット・ロードにある、乾燥農法で耕作するフレディアーニ家のビンヤードに基礎を置いている。パリセーズの断崖の麓近くにあるこのビンヤードは他に類を見ないほどさまざまな種類の土壌が入り混じっている。日中はカリストガの暖かい日差しを浴び、夜は冷涼な霧に包まれるビンヤードは、３代に渡るフレディアーニ家のワイン栽培の経験とあいまって、色、風味ともにぐっと凝縮されたブドウを生み出している。

クリーム・ド・カシスやプラム、ブラックベリー、ウッドスモーク、リコリスが香りがそのまま口中に風味となって広がる。ハーブの香りも微かに漂う。フルボディーで豊潤。
