Dick Vermeil, former NFL Super Bowl winning coach and winemaker Paul Smith have turned a long time friendship into a successful wine venture in Calistoga, where Vermeil was raised.
The foundation for the majority of Vermeil's best wines is the Frediani family's dry-farmed vineyards in the esteemed Rosedale-Pickett Road area of the northeastern Napa Valley. This unique area near the base of the Palisades features a broad variety of soil types. The vineyards, warm Calistoga days, cool foggy nights and third generation Frediani Family wine growing experience combine to produce fruit rich in color and flavor density.

ディック・バーミール氏（元アメリカン・ナショナル・フットボール・リーグのスーパーボール優勝チーム監督）と醸造家であるポール・スミス氏の長年の友人関係がナパバレーのカリストガでのワイン造りでの成功につながった。それがバーミール。
バーミールの高級ワインのほとんどは、ナパバレーの北東部のローズデール-ピケット・ロードにある、乾燥農法で耕作するフレディアニ家のビンヤードに基礎を置いている。パリセーズの断崖の麓近くにあるこのビンヤードは他に類を見ないほどさまざまな種類の土壌が入り混じっている。日中はカリストガの暖かい日差しを浴び、夜は冷涼な霧に包まれるビンヤードは、３代に渡るフレディアーニ家のワイン栽培の経験とあいまって、色、風味ともにぐっと凝縮されたブドウを生み出している。
樹齢の古い樹からのものに特有な凝縮感。タンニンは重みはあるが滑らか。ダークベリーの果実とスパイスが溢れる風味。
