Frog's Leap was founded by the Williams family in 1981 along a spot on Mill's Creek known as the Frog Farm. An old ledger revealed that around the turn of the century, frogs were raised on the property then sold for .33 a dozen, destined for the tables of Victorian San Francisco tables.
Believing that the great and historic wines of the world are made from traditionally farmed, non-irrigated vines, Frog's Leap dry-farms over 200 acres of certified organic vineyards and was among the first in the Napa Valley to become CCOF certified in 1988.
This Merlot shows off the beautifully aromatic and richly flavored character of this varietal at its very best. The Merlot opens with aromas of plum, dark cherries, cocoa and spice that continue through to the palate. This is a great bottle to reach for when roasting chicken, braising veal shank or grilling some portobello mushrooms.
