Joseph Phelps Vineyards is a family-owned winery committed to crafting world class, estate-grown wines. Founded in 1973, the winery now controls and farms nearly 375 acres of vines on eight estate vineyards in Napa Valley. Phelps is best known for its flagship Napa Valley blend of red Bordeaux varietals, Insignia, awarded Wine Spectator's "Wine of the Year" in 2005.
The wine has beautiful aromatics of mocha, tobacco, grilled herbs, smoke, licorice, incense and orange peel. The body is laced with great freshness, red fruit characteristics and integrated but a bit firm tannins. This exotic, layered wine impresses for its length and pure persistence.
